Sooooo . . . it's been awhile since we've posted

Hello Pancake World!  We are still here, we've just had lots of other things going on, and unfortunately blogging about our pancake travels has been put on the back burner for awhile.

We last left off eating pancakes for Chanukah, and our goal was to eat a different latke every night of the celebration.  Well, I will say we didn't make it to eating latkes for 8 nights.  We got a bit tired of eating them after night 5, so we stopped after this night.  I would love to share with you the last two latke recipes, but unfortunately we can't seem to find the pictures we took.  Once we find them, I'll fill you all in.

For everyone wondering what has caused our prolonged hiatus from the world of pancakes, I will share that it all started with me getting sick with prolonged bouts of flu/pneumonia.  Just when I thought it was all over, wham!  I came down with something else.  The medical profession was not joking when they predicted that it was going to be one of the worst cold and flu seasons we had seen for awhile.  We also had two weeks of travel in December/January, in addition to a third week of travel in April.

In addition to constantly being sick and traveling, we also have a new addition to our family.  Here he is:

His name is Harvey, and he has definitely sucked up a lot of our free time working on getting him trained.  He is an awesome addition to our family though.  It's been a few months since he first came home with us, and he has definitely settled in and claimed us as his own.

Adding Harvey was the exciting part of the last few months of hiatus.  Unfortunately, it hasn't all been fun.  A week after bringing Harvey home, this was discovered on Mac:

A large tumor on his thyroid that turned out to be the big C.  It was much larger than this.  It has shrunken considerably since we started treating it.  So, a new puppy and a sick dog have pretty much been the focus of our world lately.  Fortunately, Mac seems to be on the mend once again and Harvey is settling in nicely.  So now we have some time to catch up on our pancake travels. Before our Chaunkah detour, we ended in Burundi, which is the last of the countries beginning with B.  We did move on to the Cs, we just didn't blog about them.  So in a short period of time, we will begin our journey through the Cs in the next blog post.
